Four new patterns!

Well, what a busy couple of months! Since I last wrote we’ve had our first Knit-Tea Retreat, which was wonderful! I’ll be writing a couple of posts on our website soon if you’d like to hear all about it.

In Owl About Yarn news I’ve been to a couple of yarn festivals this last couple of months. West Wales Wool show is always a delight to be at, and I was at Festiwool for the first time on this past weekend. But now I’m all done with yarn festivals for the next few months and so I’ll have time to focus on my online shop and on designing.

I have four new patterns out that I wanted to tell you about, all available on Ravelry and shortly in my Etsy shop too. First up, is a cowl I designed for the recent retreat and published in the retreat booklet for our attendees. The Insole Court Cowl is a simple DK weight pattern which knitters at every stage could manage. If you can knit and purl, you can make this!

The second and third patterns are a set, although available individually. The Raining Sideways Hat and Raining Sideways fingerless mitts are again in DK weight, featuring a variation on a herringbone stitch. If you put them both in your basket and buy them together on Ravelry, you will get the second pattern at half price.

Fourth and finally, last week I released the Christmas Bauble Mitts pattern. It’s the perfect festive knit, easy colourwork and you can shop from the odds and ends of 4ply weight yarn in your stash. Or, if you’d prefer, you could have a look at my next shop update and buy my 2018 Christmas bauble! In it you will receive the pattern, the yarn you need to knit the small size mitts, stitch markers, a progress keeper and a couple of Lindt chocolates! It would be a wonderful Christmassy cast on.

If you’re signed up for my newsletter I’ll be emailing you about the shop update to let you know exactly when it will be. If not, why not sign up now, and then you won’t miss out!

“Anne with an E” kit! ❤

If you are a newsletter subscriber you will have heard the exciting news that I am collaborating with C.C. Almon of JavaPurl Designs to create a gorgeous kit inspired by Anne of Green Gables. We are both big fans of the books and grew up reading them (and never stopped!). So when C.C. came to me with her idea for a shawl kit I was thrilled. Immediately a new and detailed project bag design leaped into my head fully formed, and I made a prototype and sent it to C.C. (luckily she liked it too!). She commissioned two skeins of super cuddly merino yarn in two different colours to design a shawl, and thus the kit was born.

Preorders are open at http://www.JavaPurl until Saturday 18th November. In the kit you will receive a beautiful project bag, two skeins of hand dyed yarn, C.C.’s beautiful pattern and a couple of extra goodies. Shipping will be a little while as I will order the materials once preorders close, and then it will be quite a lot of work to get all the bags made and the yarn dyed. But I will be working hard and will get the kits shipped out as soon as is possible!

It would make a wonderful treat for yourself if you are an Anne fan, or a fantastic gift for a knitting friend. Kits are priced at $80 USD plus a flat shipping rate of $10.

So that website one more time; http://www.JavaPurl – don’t hang about! You only have a couple of days left to get your order in before preorders finish this Saturday 18th November!

What about now?

Did I mention the discount code? Bargain yarn, what’s not to love?!

And there’s more….

I think, I think I’ve finally got all my yarns listed in the shop! On Thursday I finished off the skeins of fingering and laceweight, and I’ve just yesterday evening finished writing up and photo editing a heap of the smooshiest, softest DK merino yarn plus the new sets of fingering weight miniskeins. So lots of gorgeous colour has expanded the shop, I hope you like it all!

Big luscious shop update!

I’ve been working hard this week to bring you a bumper shop update. There are seventeen (yes, seventeen!!) new colourways on fingering weight yarn.

I’ve got sparkly yarns, yarns with a bit of nylon for the sock knitters, pure wool yarns…something for everyone!

Plus, as an added bonus, I have a handful of beautiful colourways on my laceweight yarn which is an 80% extra fine merino 20% silk blend. Soooooo soft!

Have you seen my new spindle bags?

I wanted to share my latest new product range with you. For Yarningham I made a stack of quilted spindle bags, and now all the ones I brought home are in the shop! There’s a fun range of fabrics, but as ever, if you are after this design in a different fabric just get in touch and we’ll see what I can do for you!

They are a good size, being more than roomy enough to fit my regular spindle and fluff, but also big enough that I could carry my big Ashford plying spindle if I wanted (that’s the larger, untreated wood one). Fully lined and quilted, they should protect your spindle from bumps and scratches. And the fun fabric prints will bring a smile to your face whenever you use it!

Don’t forget to enter my Instagram giveaway draw if you haven’t already – it ends tonight at midnight, and the winner will be announced tomorrow! Good luck!
